Læcunae (2023)

Developed in collaboration with a group of 15 young participant-contributors, this body of research addresses gaps in knowledge as an essential element for speculative engagements with place.

Developed during the project More Light! hosted by the Sansusī Wellbeing Residencies at Kalači – the Eduards Veidenbaums Memorial Museum, this research resulted in the creation of a geolocative sound walk that functions as a digital archive of the site of the museum, and an artist book featuring 20 collage compositions collectively created from a shared visual archive.

Over the course of the month of June 2023 residency participants developed a visual archive of materials emerging from engaged and embodied site research at the museum, including watercolour sketches, drawings, and situated writing. Ultimately, this archive became shared raw material for the collective act of recomposition which resulted in these works. Through this action our individual perspectives on a particular place merged into something else – something that bridges the empty spaces between us.

These works were co-created with: Aiga Labrence, Īdens Zariņš, Lizete, Karlīna Zaksa, Kika, Kristaps, Mare, Reinis Sausiņš, Rūta Loze, Undīne Trinska-Roze, Viesturs Ķīsis, Violeta, Viviāna, Zelma, Zīle Slaviņa, Jinbin Chen and Aleksey Smolov.
